A deep sigh of satisfaction, a smile, a shimmer in his eyes. As DOES settles down on the rooftop the sun sets behind the surrounding trees and buildings, presenting the evening with a blueish glow perfected by pink sparkle. Behind him his latest mural overlooks the illuminated city. Raw, contemporary, representing Miami summer vibes. The colors seemingly flow onto the roof, where he now chills out incorporating this moment, this setting. After getting lost in time for a minute DOES gets up and walks a few steps to his adjacent apartment.
DOES spent a full week in Miami where the Miami Art Basel took place. Wyn 317 Gallery invited him to stay in the residency on the 2nd floor of their new building. The gallery moved down the street from central Miami to get away from state-of-the-art buildings and the ever-increasing frenzy of modern times. So here DOES stayed, just footsteps from his work in progress.
Expositions and art fairs attracted collectors and artists from all over the globe. DOES immersed in the coolest shows like ‘Scope’, ‘Juxtapoz’ and ‘Untitled’. But the most thrilling show of them all for DOES was the show by customs at the Orlando airport. After opening the case with the carefully packed sculpture BRIQUE_N°06 ‘Nova’, customs informed DOES that it would probably not be flown to Miami. After a nerve-racking flight the case rolled onto the luggage-belt in Miami airport after all, popping the start of a great week exposing this brand-new piece at group exhibition ‘This is Now!’.
BRIQUE_N°06 ‘Nova’ is the only sculpture by DOES now exposed in the US. It will be on display at Wyn 317 Gallery till the end of January 2019.
