Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
In July 2013 Does was invited to paint at the third Kolirious festival in Rio de Janeiro. A 3-day festival with more than 40 local and international artists.
During the festival Does had the opportunity to meet and paint with Brazilian Does from Sao Paolo. A fun experience and interesting to see how a passion for the same letters can lead to such different styles.
After the festival there were a few days left to explore the city and naturally Christo, the statue atop Corcovado, was a must see. After a bus ride to the top of the mountain, Does¬†found himself amongst an enormous crowd of tourists who had all come to enjoy the amazing view over the city of Rio. But the true highlight of this journey was a trip to one of¬†Rio’s favela’s.¬†Thanks to graffiti artist Acme, who lives at the very top of favela Pav√£o in Copacabana, Does was able to get a true taste of live inside a favela and he even got to do a few walls! Whilst climbing the many steep stairs that characterise the favela, Acme showed Does¬†around and made sure he¬†was able to paint at some of the best and safe spots.¬†
Muito obrigado Brazil!
