Vibrant Morocco

Here I am, at the start of the art-festival season 2019. And whát a beginning: for the first time I set foot on the friendly African continent for the fifth edition of Rabat’s Jidar Street Art Festival. Twelve local and international artists, such as Pleghm, Hyuro, GR170, Dynam, 3ttman, Caratoes, Yann Chatelin and Morran, came to Rabat to celebrate spontaneous creativity and imagination. Inspired by the shapes and colours of the Arab world, I painted a 8 x 14 meter wall of the Mohammed VI Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art. Using a mix of housepaint and spraypaint, I let the shades of light through the arches of the museum induce me.

After finishing the mural, local artist Morran showed me around the city. From its towering city walls to its breath-taking Atlantic coastline, the Moroccan capital of Rabat enchanted me. In Rabat, centuries collide as my presence as a multidisciplinary artist in this ancient city testifies. The last day I had a little playtime as I made a quick letter piece along the coast at an old favela. This place, Résidence A Joumaira, N 83. Av. Moustapha Assayeh, will become a small football field.
Before packing up my stuff I got a real taste of Morocco in Ziryab restaurant in Rabat’s old medina. Moroccan food is as diverse and vibrant in color and flavor as the letterforms that constitute my art.

Thanks to Salah Malouli, the whole team, special assistance by Nada and Simo for the preparation and good vibes!
