About the Exhibition
Rethinking collage: "Los Raros/Las Raras" is an exhibition that offers a profound reflection on the evolution of collage, from its avant-garde roots to its influence on contemporary culture. Challenging conventional categories, the exhibition questions the nature of collage, exploring a wide range of works spanning various media and artistic expressions.
Beyond paper: Beyond its roots in paper, "Los Raros/Las Raras" ventures into a wide range of expression media, from painting and sculpture to digital art and performance. This expansion of collage into other media offers a multidimensional artistic experience that challenges the traditional boundaries of contemporary art.
A global avant-garde. The exhibition features the participation of more than 90 prominent local and international artists, including Asger Carlsen, Martí Sawe, Diane Meyer, J. Demsky, Susana Blasco, Alma Haser, and Michael Mapes, among others. These artists incorporate the appropriation, deconstruction, and recoding of pre-existing discourses to create new narratives with their own viewpoints, consolidating their position as agents of creative divergence.
A critical lens. "Los Raros/Las Raras" serves as a critical lens, exploring the complex relationships between collage and other artistic and cultural practices. The exhibition redefines the boundaries of collage, inviting viewers to reflect on the intrinsic nature of art beyond conventional categorizations.
