DOES ART PROJECTS
SPECIAL PROJECTS
A collection of works that represent the milestones in DOES's artistic career
I LOVE CREATING AND FINISHING PROJECTS
The sky is the limit. I don’t limit myself to spray can or marker only. The excitement ánd challenge of trying new things is that you don’t know where you are going until you get there.
DOES PROJECT
QUI FACIT CREAT II
The book Qui Facit Creat II is the sequel to Qui Facit Creat I. It displays a carefully curated selection of works in various disciplines from 2016 to 2022. It is the next chapter in DOES’s creative process.
For the release of the book DOES also created the artwork Qui Facit Creat II that he painted on the cover of 100 books, each book cover portraying a small part of the total work.
DOES PROJECT
FIRST 20 YEARS
In celebrating his first twenty years as an artist DOES released the book 'First 20 years' showing DOES's evolution of dedication to style. The book is based on DOES's original ten blackbooks showing sketches from as far back as 1997.
To celebrate the launch of the book ‘First 20 Years’, DOES also released a short documentary about the rhythm of sketching.
DOES PROJECT
BRIQUE SCULPTURES
DOES searched for ways to combine outside murals with his highly detailed studio paintings. The outcome resulted in the sculpture collection ‘BRIQUE’. Each artefact is made of pieces of walls, mixed with plaster and colors.
The docu 'Magic Water' illustrates the story behind the making of BRIQUE and reveals new layers of what it is that drives DOES.
DOES PROJECT
ENDLESS PERSPECTIVES
‘Endless Perspectives’ features a body of work aiming to capture graffiti’s transient nature. DOES traveled to Amsterdam, Basel, London, Paris, Melbourne & Sydney to paint canvasses incorporated into murals. His journeys were documented by cameraman Stephan Polman who accompanied DOES during his travels.
DOES PROJECT
'VOILA' XL
When curator Yasha Young approached DOES with the question if he wanted to make a large scale collage, his first thought was ‘how‘? Despite initial hesitation, one year of cutting, pasting and creating 22 paper collages plus a first exhibition of collages in Paris’ Molitor sparked his motivation and DOES was ready to take on the challenge. This resulted in a paper collage of 4 x 4 meters!
"The result is better than I had hoped for. It is full of energy, power, color and hope. While it is made of pieces of paper, it has my signature allover and its roots in graffiti."
