Urban sculptures by DOES
DOES searched for ways to combine outside murals with his highly detailed studio paintings. The outcome resulted in the sculpture collection ‘BRIQUE’.
‘BRIQUE’ is about collecting pieces from past walls and reshaping them into a new form. Reconnecting with foregone moments in front of the wall, transforming them into a new body.
‘BRIQUE’ originated when DOES returned to the very first wall he ever painted. He extracted parts of this initial wall and used them as core elements in his new pieces.
Perpetuating the past and making new work traceable to a specific google coordinate of a bygone wall.

FROM DRIPS TO DRILLS
"With the BRIQUE scultures DOES has developed a kind of contemporary archeology of urban spaces. But his briques are far more than just a time capsule. Epoxy, pieces of walls, colored layers and plaster are assembled in order to create a three-dimensional lettering and to open up new directions in which graffiti culture can expand itself without giving up its own roots."

DOCUMENTARY
After the successful docu ‘Transition’, which was awarded with the ‘Vimeo Staff Pick’ label, in 2018 DOES teamed up with I Love Graffti and Strictua to shoot a new docu about his studio work. This short documentary gives you a good impression of what goes down in the DOES laboratory and in this docu DOES reveals new layers of what motivates and drives him.

SHORT FILM
Short film about the creation process behind 'Akosua'. To DOES, extracting fractions from his painted walls is the perfect way to tell a story that is much more than what people can imagine.
