Abandoned Monastery

The south of the Netherlands has a rich history that lives on in the many churches, chapels and monasteries. Some of these buildings have been abandoned, some are still being used for religious purposes and others have been renovated to serve as hotel, restaurant or party venues.

In 2011 Nash and Does did a large mural in one of the abandoned monasteries in the region. Shortly after finishing the mural, the municipality reached an agreement with a development company and renovations commenced. As the owner of the development company much admired the mural, he contacted Does to ask permission for preserving it and Does happily agreed to this of course! As such the mural is now the centerpiece in a one of the regions most beautiful restaurants.
