In July 2013 Does was invited to paint at the third Kolirious festival in Rio de Janeiro. A 3-day festival with more than 40 local and international artists.
During the festival Does had the opportunity to meet and paint with Brazilian Does from Sao Paolo. A fun experience and interesting to see how a passion for the same letters can lead to such different styles.
After the festival there were a few days left to explore the city and naturally Christo, the statue atop Corcovado, was a must see. After a bus ride to the top of the mountain, Does found himself amongst an enormous crowd of tourists who had all come to enjoy the amazing view over the city of Rio. But the true highlight of this journey was a trip to one of Rio's favela's. Thanks to graffiti artist Acme, who lives at the very top of favela Pavão in Copacabana, Does was able to get a true taste of live inside a favela and he even got to do a few walls! Whilst climbing the many steep stairs that characterise the favela, Acme showed Does around and made sure he was able to paint at some of the best and safe spots.
Muito obrigado Brazil!
